| UP #1430 rolls into the remains of Grand Avenue Yard to grab five cars out of the Chicago Tribune with two cars for Alpha Baking and a C&NW Bay-window in tow. This job has been abolished since.
Until the 1950s, this square block was the original coach yard and locomotive servicing area for the Northwestern's commuter operations; a roundhouse stood at the northeast corner of Halsted and Chicago Avenue. |
