| Sunlight cuts through the hazy smoke emanating from Shay #2 inside the Cass Shop yard complex on July 5, 2020. Cass Scenic Railroad is the same railroad that was built in 1901 to haul lumber to the mill in Cass. Cass is home to the largest fleet of geared Shay locomotives in the world. On this day, Shay #2 would lead a trip up to Bald Knob, the second highest point in West Virginia on Back Allegheny Mountain. |
