      Remarks & Notes
Two of a kind. In a relatively rare display, both of the extant, operable Lima Berkshire Locomotives strike a side-by-side power-pose with freights in the yard of the Great Lakes Central Railroad, in Owosso, Michigan. This photo op and dozens of others were staged during a 2009 Lerro Productions Charter. Nickel Plate Road #765 was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1944 for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, aka "Nickel Plate Road." She was retired just 14 years later in 1958 and today operates in occasional excursion service under the ownership of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, based in the city of the same name. Pere Marquette #1225 had an even shorter career. She was also a Lima product, built in 1941 for the Pere Marquette Railway and was retired just 10 years later. She also operates today in occasional excursion service under the ownership of the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan. Although this particular photo comes from 2009, both engines are operational in 2020.

Images from two Lerro Productions events, 10 years apart: 2009 and 2019. The 2009 featured a 31-car freight and NKP 765. The 2019 trip showcased just the 1225 with the Steam Railroading Institute's passenger consist.
