It's October 14th 2007, and I've run down to the San Luis Valley to spend the day photographing former Southern Pacific 2-6-0 #1744 on the final day of the operating season on the San Luis & Rio Grande. What no one knew at the time, however, was that this was to be #1744's last run, period. It has never run since, though it has been purchased and will, hopefully, run again on the Niles Canyon RR in CA.
Here we see #1744 as it pulls into Alamosa, CO for the final time.
