As BNSF Guaranteed Service Intermodal train Q-NWHLAC0-19L (North Baltimore OH to Los Angeles CA) descended Cajon Pass behind Norfolk Southern AC44C6M 4289 (rebuilt from NS Dash 9-40CW 9033 in May 2020), it met BNSF Empty Unit Grain Train X-SBDBAR3-22A (San Bernardino CA to Barstow CA) at the Ardent Mills elevator in Verdemont. The grain empties had BNSF ET44C4 3970 teamed with NS ES44AC 8114 (the Norfolk Southern Heritage engine) and NS AC44C6M 4200 (the former NS Dash 9-44CW 8947). It must have been “Norfolk Southern Day” on Cajon Pass this day! (San Bernardino, California – December 23, 2020)
