On a below freezing morning in Arizona's high country, BNSF 6998 West leads the hot Willow Springs, IL to Phoenix, AZ Z-train into Ash Fork. As of a day before this photo was taken, BNSF turned Ash Fork back into a crew changing location for trains operating between Winslow and Phoenix. Prior to this, Phoenix crew were operating 300 miles of railroad to Winslow; resulting in crew not often making it within their twelve hours of service.
