After making a wye move at CP-SK out of the “Mat” Yard in Selkirk, the lovable geometry train with the ex-Marc GP40-2W heads south on the River Sub for its next stop at Alsen then Kingston for lay over and refueling. This is one train that cost me a last visit to Vermont with friends as I’m a big fan of the 9969, a very unique creature on the CSXT roster. And getting a chance to get it in daylight in NY was a must.
CSX has diverse passenger operations that include office car specials, trips to major events like the Kentucky Derby, track geometry trains and the annual Santa Claus train over the northern section of the fallen flag Clinchfield Railroad.
