Track speed at Albee's Field. WW&F Locomotive #9 races southbound at track speed with a classic, 24" gauge Mixed Train, headed for Alna Center, Sheepscot, and ultimately the seaport town of Wiscasset, Maine. Typically, a short mixed like this one would be carrying farm products, lumber and passengers from the Maine hinterlands, who would be looking to make a connection with the standard gauge Maine Central Railroad in downtown Wiscasset. Today, the tracks of the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum only go as far south as Sheepscot. The site of the original WW&F Yards in Wiscasset is today occupied by the athletic fields of the Wiscasset Elementary School.land Company and served 4 of Maine's 24" gauge railroads over the course of a 42 year career that ended in 1933. After literally spending 50 years in a barn on a farm in Connecticut, she returned to Maine and has been restored to run on the rails of the very last employer she served, the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway, which today is a museum in Alna, Maine.
