On a day when 73% of the United States was covered with snow, much of it deep, along with freezing temperatures, winds, tornados and power outages, southern California was a pleasant 66oF and the hills were green thanks to some recent rains. A train that originated in New York City, and is headed to Los Angeles, passes through the western end of Santa Ana Canyon behind a couple of Norfolk Southern diesels fleeing the cold, snowy weather.
