The first snowfall of 2021 ravaged Virginia quite hard. Regardless of which (and the coming ice storms which completely shut down traffic), Amtrak along with the other railroads continued to operate in Virginia. Amtrak 96, running two hours late glides into the famed town of Ashland, Virginia with the former 'Big Game Train' unit in the lead.
With Northeast Regional trains, Auto Train and long distance service to Florida, New Orleans and Chicago, a lot of train riding and train watching can be had.
