| I headed on 2/15 in hopes for more drift action. 337 and 703 had left Dubuque after sunrise on a bitterly cold day. The low at sunrise was around -15 with wind chills well above the -30's. Unfortunately the 337 was big and heavy and didn't give much for action, plus they had 2 BNSF units. Behind them U703 had a nice 4-pack of CN's for power, something not easily seen much this winter. Here they dip thru the Winthrop curves 30 miles east of Waterloo on their way west bound for a western Iowa ethanol plant. The train came off the CSX at Chicago, IL. |
