      Remarks & Notes
NYC began an ambitious program in the late 1950s to convert its multiple track mainlines to CTC. This included the Toledo-Elkhart mainline through Bryan, OH. CP 341 controlled the crossing with the old Cincinnati Northern. This CTC installation was the first pushbutton controlled territory (rather than levers) and featured unique lighter-traffic signal spacing (every 2 miles on the right track and 4 miles on the left). The signals, pole line and crossing are now all gone.

Photos showing the railroad pole lines. The pole line used four basic electrical circuits - telegraph, telephone, signaling, and power. Modern technologies of fiber optics, microwave, radio, satellite, and computers have been replacing the pole lines.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
