Florida East Coast Railway train 101 passes the Cocoa Tunnel construction site on March 18, 2021. The Cocoa Tunnel is being built as part of the Brightline passenger rail expansion to Orlando. This is where the new line they are building west to Orlando breaks off from the existing Florida East Coast mainline. The tunnel is being installed under State Road 528 (the Beachline Expressway) using a method called box-jacking which uses hydraulic jacks to push prefabricated tunnel segments into place while traffic continues to pass overhead.
