Arguably the best train-watching spot in Macon was the area behind Terminal Station where the main from Atlanta joined the former CofG lines from eastern Georgia at a spot called Macon Junction. It wasn't very scenic, though, with a big ugly patch of bare ground that was not revegetated after station leads were pulled. The former CofG line east from Macon (to Savannah and Augusta) shared a bridge over the Ocmulgee River with the Georgia Railroad's branch between Macon and their mainline at Camak. On this afternoon, Georgia railroad mixed rain 30 is waiting as a Brosnan Yard-bound freight comes across the river and through Macon Junction.
