| Union Pacific employees Michael Liles and James L. Pemberton prepare a new traction motor/wheel assembly on the wheel track at UP’s Kansas City Locomotive Facility on October 21, 2013. The new axle needs to be inspected and readied for installation where it will inserted in the fifth axle position of UP EMD SD70M No. 4831 using an adjoining single-axle transfer table and drop pit. The faulty/worn out axle has already been removed and can be seen on the right. |
