Running the C&O Greenbrier Division. Meadow River Heisler Locomotive #6 makes her way south at about MP 92.3, along West Virginia's Greenbrier River, running the old C&O main through the wilderness with string of freight loads destined for Cass, some 10 miles to the south.
The tracks between Cass and Durbin, WV are all that's left of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad's Greenbrier Division. The rails north of Durbin and south of Cass were removed after the Chessie System abandoned the line in the late 1970s. Significant sections of the remaining track were washed out in the mid-1980s as a result of storms, leaving just a 5 mile section of usable track between Downtown Durbin, at about MP 95 and MP 90. In recent years, the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad has been slowly repairing the washouts and sometime in 2021, hopes to re-open the line all the way to Cass, paving the way for excursions between the two towns.
