    Remarks & Notes
Still hanging on...The days of end cab switchers on Class 1 Railroads is almost over, with only a few stragglers hanging on as SW1001 2102 is no exception. Built for the Reading as RDG 2612 in November of 1973, it would be passed onto Conrail as CR 9412. Norfolk Southern would get 12 of these pups from Conrail (2100-2011). As of this image, only 2100, 2102-2103 remain. Currently, 2102 and 2103 are assigned to the Juniata Shops and 2100 is stored. The short wheel base gives these units the ability to fit on the shops turntable while coupled to most standard 6-axle locomotives.
