Once upon a time, Powder River coal business exceeded capacity and both BNSF and UP struggled to keep up with the volume. That was then, and BNSF is still adding to the substantial fleet of SD70MACs. The 9973, resplendent in the Heritage II colors, is brand new and teamed with a Santa Fe U36C on its journey through the Nebraska Sandhills near Whitman. Fuji Velvia.
