A coupler on the tender of Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Mikado No. 489 is locked to the drawbar of coach No. 513, the “Conejos”, the lead car of the railroad’s eastbound passenger train as it descends the grade between Osier and Rock Tunnel, Colorado, on the afternoon of August 27, 2021. Simple, but without them, we wouldn’t have a train.
