Amid early autumn color, the westbound Pend Oreille Valley Railroad freight heads toward Laclede, Idaho, along the Pend Oreille River on October 1, 2021. POVA operates this portion of the former Great Northern main line between Newport and Sandpoint, where traffic is interchanged to the BNSF.
