The American Freedom train arrived in southern California on December 22, 1975, and the train was on display at the Los Angeles County Fair Grounds from the 23rd until the 30th. In the midst of American Bicentennial ferver, the train and its display of items from the Smithsonian Institution was a big draw. Near the end of its time at the Fairgrounds, a face familiar to long-time residents of the Los Angeles area, Ralph Story, was seen in the engineer’s seat wearing an engineer’s cap, taping a piece about the train for the Channel 2 (KNXT) News. (Pomona, California – December 28, 1975)
