When the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad acquired the former Lackawanna Syracuse and Utica branches, they also received rights to operate haulage trains between their two disconnected divisions over Conrail’s Southern Tier line. Here one of the haulage trains backs through Binghamton to get onto the Southern Tier. Two veteran GP18’s are joined by two newly-acquired C430’s to power one of the first haulage trains.
