Action on Mullan Pass A BNSF manifest freight drops down the 2.2 percent grade out of Weed, Montana, and approaches the large cut through Iron Ridge on July 4, 2021. In the background, a westbound BNSF Q train climbs through Austin. Both trains will soon meet and are taking advantage of this more than 4 mile long section of double track that Montana Rail Link created when they moved the west switch of Austin siding up the hill to Weed.
