Three of BNSF Railway’s 25th Anniversary ES44AC locomotives headed east over Cajon Pass this day: BNSF 6111 was the second unit in train Z-SBDWSP8-23, BNSF 6017 led train O-SBDTOP (consisting of all business cars) and now BNSF 5828 is leading Priority UPS-LTL Intermodal train Z-SBDWSP9-23 to Willow Springs, Illinois. Curiously, all three departed on trains that were symbolled as originating in San Bernardino. 6017 and 5828 brought the Officer train up from San Diego the night before, and 5828 was removed as the seven-car passenger train didn’t need two locomotives. BNSF 5828 is teamed with three Dash 9-44CWs (5175, 1063 and 1094) along with ES44AC 6275. The train is seen at Blue Cut. (Cajon Pass, California – February 23, 2022)
