On a normal occasion, CN’s Kirk Yard - Glenn Yard Local runs during the nighttime hours. Instead they got a very late start, and got held up at many places for hours, which made for some well-lit sunny shots near Downtown Chicago. The past two days L537 has been a late run into Glenn. After a 3+ hour wait to get across the Rock Island Diamonds at 16th St, railfans line along the 18th Street bridge as 537 gets rolling with a pair of classic Illinois Central SD70’s. A straight shot for this train from Kirk to Glenn isn’t easy, as they have 10 busy diamonds to cross before getting to Glenn, which is hard for a non-stop trip.
