It’s a beautiful and warm afternoon in Southern Indiana as INRD’s Sunday - Friday road freight, SAHW-06 (Senate Ave Yard in Indianapolis - Hiawatha Yard in Jasonville) fights up a one percent grade with the normal duo of SD9043MAC’s, #9005 and 9004 as they enter Unionville at one of the unique spots of the “Hi-Dry” line, the Unionville Tunnel. Also known as Peterson Tunnel, it was built in 1905 by the Indianapolis Southern Railroad. Most pass up the Unionville Tunnel because they prefer the famous Tulip Trestle further down the line, and it is quite a long and dangerous hike to get the tunnel itself.
