There were two things I learned about the Pan Am OCS when the F-units were added. 1) it was difficult to predict and 2) it was difficult to predict. Case in point, a westbound excursion run to Mechanicville had the coaches towed back east by another diesel and the F's were to be added in consist back east on another train. So, that's it, right? Then comes the call in the middle of the night about them planning an autorack train back to Ayer with the F's for power. BOOM! Glad I didn't drive all the way back to Boston. So, the racks didn't come to pass, but deep wells will do it. AND #2 leading to boot...there was actually a small snow flurry taking place at this moment. In Florida....
