    Remarks & Notes
Burlington Northern Santa Fe train 144 hustles past the Trempealeau Marina along the Mississippi River at Trempealeau, Wisconsin, on June 15, 1996. Almost looking like a BN train, the Santa Fe EMD GP9r No. 2258 in the consist is a sign of things to come. The union between BN and Santa Fe was made official by the formation of a holding company on September 22, 1995, but the two railroads didn’t formally merge until December 31, 1996.
