It was the Seventies. A time when one could pull into a service station and the attendant would fill your tank, check the air and oil, and wipe your windshield. And all for 39.9¢ per gallon!
Amtrak SDP40Fs 559 and 558 are leading southbound (eastbound on the Southern Pacific) Coast Starlight 11, making its stop in San Luis Obispo, roughly halfway between Oakland and Los Angeles, and where it regularly gets its windshield squeegeed. This is where train 11 will meet train 14, the northbound (westbound on the SP) Coast Starlight. (San Luis Obispo, California – July 1, 1976)
