I stayed overnight in a dump of a motel, got up a 4:45 AM, got soaked in the rain, drove 400 miles round trip, spent hundreds of dollars, and after waiting 27 years, was it worth it?

You bet your hooter it was!

The Reading & Northern’s former Reading Company T-1 class 4-8-4 steam locomotive, built in 1945 in the railroad company’s own shops in Reading Pennsylvania, has arisen after a long slumber to thunder its home rails again. On May 28th, it carried nearly 1000 people in 19 cars, from Reading to Jim Thorpe and return. From all reports there was nary a hitch and that the Railroad delivered a class act. The future of big steam on the east coast is bright.

I know that for me, the Reading Rambles I traveled in the 1960s have returned!
