A BNSF yard job stretches a cut of trailers past the Belen Harvey House Museum. Once part of an extensive network of hotels and restaurants throughout the Santa Fe, this museum is now owned by the City of Belen and open to the public for tours. It operated from 1910 to 1939, then again during WW2 for troop trains. The Santa Fe later used it as a Reading Room for employees through the '70s. In 1982, it was donated to the city government and restored by volunteers. At its peak, the Fred Harvey company operated 84 of these establishments, but only a handful remain today, with most having been converted to museums, hotels, or offices.
