Purchased by the N&W and leased to the Erie-Lackawanna were 19 EMD SDP45s. Upon return to the N&W, the Conrail name was painted out and a small "NW" was added below the cab numbers. Originally, they were to be retired and traded in on newer motive power, but a sudden upturn in traffic caused several of them to be placed in service. Here NW 6674 ex-CR 6674, exx-EL 3643 sits at Bellevue, OH in February 1985
