Amtrak's California Zephyr charges eastbound at the Benicia Bridge with Amtrak #301 leading three new ACS-64 locomotives towards Sacramento and points east to Chicago. This is the first time one of the new "Charger" locomotives has led a long distance train in California. Also in the consist is an amfleet cafe and an additional sleeper to host Amtrak and Siemens officials for the special run. The Benicia railroad bridge is the largest rail bridge east of the Mississippi, and was completed in 1932, replacing train ferries that worked across the Carquinez Strait. www.alexramosphoto.com
