| Vintage GP9s lay over one day in Miley, South Carolina. By this point, there was one customer on line, a coal fired pwoer plant in Cassady. When that plant laid off coal in 2012 (and then eventually shut down) that left a railroad without any customers. The state of South Carolina stepped in before the line was abandoned to preserve the rails and the power went to a leasor company. This locomotive and the 686 eventually would up on the Naugatuck Railroad and were repainted into beautiful N&W-inspired liveries. |
