Soo Line train 17 crests Byron Hill south of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on the afternoon of June 6, 1987. Leading the train is Soo Line EMD SD39 No. 6241 with nose lettering for short-lived Lake States, which was set up by Soo to facilitate spinning off a portion of the railroad to a regional carrier. The locomotive is former Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern SD39 No. 41.
