    Remarks & Notes
The BNSF Marceline Sub is a subdivision of 2 different topographies. From Fort Madison to Marceline the railroad twist and turns as it goes up and down over numerous valleys and dips thru northern Missouri and southern Iowa. West of Marceline the countryside flattens and the railroad straightens out as the railroad becomes a mini racetrack on its way to KC. Here the short Kansas Z-train blast along as it tears thru Mendon on the flat side of Marceline. The signal system is pretty boring now as the days here as the ex-Santa Fe signal bridges are long gone that once protected this crossover.
