| The Modesto & Empire Traction kept their fleet of 70-tonners in immaculate condition, with these little switchers lasting many years beyond the point most shortlines had upgraded to much larger power. These venerable locomotives lasted another 5 years beyond this photo being taken, retired in 2009 in favor of low emissions genset locomotives, which are used to this day. |
