Four-Track PATHway.
A Manhattan-bound Newark-WTC train of PA5 cars (Kawasaki, 2008-2022) is seen from the Baldwin Ave bridge in the early morning light. This four-track line was originally the Pennsylvania Railroad's mainline into Exchange Place terminal on the shore of the Hudson River. With the opening of Penn Station in 1910, PRR traffic to Exchange Place was sharply reduced and in 1911 the Hudson & Manhattan Railway (now PATH) began running on the line. Nowadays, the two center tracks lead to the tunnel portal where the PATH system continues to Grove St and beyond, while the outer two access the PATH C-Yard Facilities.
