By the dawn's early light. Just moments after sunrise, Norfolk & Western 611, the sole survivor of the famous J-Class, makes a westbound run through the Fairview section of the Strasburg Rail Road, during a special event, staged for photographers in early November of 2022. Although the Big J currently doesn't have access to main line trackage on any of the Class 1s, there are still places with good quality track and pretty scenery which can still host her. And even though she can't do 60 mph here, or run with a native consist, she still can produce some great images. Thanks are due to Pennsylvania's Strasburg Rail Road, the Virginia Museum of Transportation, Lerro Photography....and mother nature, for a great day with the Big J.
