Remarks & Notes

Nearly three years after the pair were delivered by builder Alco, wearing the Daylight paint, the St. Louis Southwestern's PA's 300 and 301 were well established at work in the Lone Star state. As delivered in November 1949 the pair were lettered for the St. Louis Southwestern, the more familiar Cotton Belt name came later. Cotton Belt's two PA's lack the oscillating front headlight found on parent Espee's. Number 301 moves out of Texarkana on June 2, 1955 with it's heavyweight consist in tow. Upon transfer to the Pacific Lines on January 13, 1960, the two became the 6067 and 6068 topping off the PA numbering. Photo by R.S.Plummer, from my collection.
