On the morning of January 25th, 2023 the Long Isalnd Rail Road finally opened Grand Central Madison to the public. The morning of the debut featured a special 12-car train which carried New York's Governor, dignitaries and the terminal's first revenue passengers. For the rest of the day, "GCM Direct" shuttle trains ran back and forth between the new terminal and Jamaica. The announcement of the opening came just 2 days prior which meant most railfans were unable to takeoff to ride the first train. Here we see a couple of buffs videoing the last shuttle of opening day, led by Kawasaki M9 railcar #9060, as it prepares to depart the terminal at 8:04PM.
