MILW 579 enjoys some winter sun before crews put it to work on a turn to Winona, MN. Milwaukee's Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls branch generated a lot of traffic and rated 6 day a week service in the late 60s-early 70s. In 2023 not one man made element of this photo still exists except the building in the distance of the former Uniroyal tire plant. MILW 579 was a regular at this time, and was serviced at La Crosse and worked other WI & MN trackage in the area as well.
