| Acela 2121 would be the last train to pass through Edison before service on the Northeast Corridor in this area was suspended due to fire department activity. The shutdown lasted several hours leading into rush hour, causing massive delays on both Amtrak and NJ Transit. The suspension was the result of brush fires that were reportedly started by a passing Conrail local freight train. Multiple brush fires burned between Metuchen and New Brunswick on a day of high winds and low humidity. At least two separate fires are visible in this view looking west from Edison toward New Brunswick. |
