| The BNSF still operates about 100 miles of ex-MILW mainline in western Iowa. Bayard Local LHLA609 works 5 days a week out to Bayard doing local work. Here the job slowly heads back to Council Bluffs along highway 191 outside of Panama. The job had 31 cars out of Manning AGP, 11 cars out of POET at Coon Rapids, and 8 empty ferts out of Bayard. The trackage out here is still in sad shape, as the job went 10 mph most places we followed it. Kind of amazing this job has survived test of time. |
