Fifty years prior to the other photos I posted today, MILW 35A posed at North La Crosse's station with Amtrak's North Coast Hiawatha. The westbound train would stop at Winona and Red Wing, MN before reaching Minneapolis late that afternoon. Milwaukee had acquired E9A/Bs to cover their handling of UP City trains which they took over from CNW between Council Bluffs & Chicago in October 1955. It also was the change from black/orange/maroon to UP colors for MILW passenger service.
