| Normally, no "Giruno" high-speed trains run over the winding Gotthard mountain route. On Maundy Thursday before Easter, the second scheduled unit of the EC 315 from Zurich to Milan was cancelled at short notice, i.e. the train could run with only one instead of two Girunos. This led to very heavy overcrowding, and for safety reasons the overcrowded train was not allowed to run through the Gotthard base tunnel. So the EC 315 with the "Giruno" RABe 501 # 026 "Basel-Stadt" is running on the Gotthard mountain route between Wassen and G?schenen.
