During a warm morning on June 26, 2015, a westbound BNSF coal train enters Lombard Canyon along the Missouri River and approaches the east switch of the siding at Lombard, Montana. Across the river is the empty, abandoned grade of Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension.
