Susquehanna ran a lot of excursions over the years, particularly after the line over Sparta Mountain was reopened in the mid-80s. You could argue that the excursion era peaked when a pair of former CB&Q E9As were acquired in the mid-90s. For this series of Southern Division excursions the E9s were positioned on the east end of the consist, with a single GP18 leading 15-cars westbound. The maroon duo complements the fall color surrounding the Charlotteburg Reservoir in West Milford Township.
