The tranquility of a Saturday evening in small town Minnesota is briefly disturbed by the passage of a westbound Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern trackage rights train. The red wood structure in the distance was built by the original owner of this rail line, the Winona & St Peter Railroad, back in 1887. It was eventually replaced by a brick depot that the Chicago & North Western built in 1902. Since then, it served as a freight depot before being sold to a private owner. It's more difficult to get a decent picture of it with a train going past than it first appears as the owner typically has large trucks or shipping containers stored in the lot beside it. I was fortunate to find it mostly empty on this late spring evening with a westbound arriving at the right time of day.
