Not as well known as Pidcock or other shortline empires, the Evans family possessed a prosperous little stable in the Tarheel State. Here one of their 70-tonner's Cooper-Bessemer engines produces a magnificent plume of oiler "pollution" is classic style. Photo by Jim Satterwhite, from my collection.
